Paul Wilbur, 67, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on July 4, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. This article explores the life of a man who deeply touched the lives of those around him. Who can compare to Paul Wilbur’s legacy of love, hard work, and dedication?

Paul was born in Dallas to Clarence and Nellie Mae Karnes Wilbur. He graduated from TSTI after attending Wellington High School. His life took a beautiful turn when he met Darla Darling. They married on November 15, 1976, in Amarillo, marking the beginning of a 46-year journey filled with love and devotion. Paul embraced Darla’s children as his own, showcasing his unwavering commitment to family.

Paul’s career as a welder began shortly after graduation. His skills and dedication led him to become a welding inspector, traveling across the US for various projects. Despite the distance, Paul and Darla remained deeply connected. Darla would visit him every two weeks, cherishing their time together filled with dates and dancing. Paul was known for his masterful dance moves, a passion he enjoyed until his health declined. He retired in 2022, dedicating his remaining time to his family.

Paul’s generosity and selflessness were evident in his unwavering commitment to providing for his family. He ensured everyone’s needs were met, big or small. His love extended beyond his immediate family to his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Barbara DiMassey, brother Charles Wilbur, and son-in-law Curtis Link. Paul leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his wife, Darla; his children, Cindy Link, Shannon Fowler, Lance Fowler, Tambra Terbush and her husband Scott, Sabrina Dean and her husband Gary, and Desiree Walker and her husband Jason; his brother, Bryan Wilbur; twenty-two grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Public viewing was held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Schooler Funeral Home in Amarillo. The funeral service took place on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at the same location. Paul Wilbur’s life serves as an inspiration, a testament to the power of love, family, and hard work. Who can compare to the impact he had on the lives he touched? He will be deeply missed.
