Corey D. Comperatore, a resident of Sarver, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, July 13th, 2024, at the age of 50. Born on June 16, 1974, in Natrona Heights, PA, Corey lived a life marked by service to his country and community, profound love for his family, and unwavering faith. His passing is a significant loss to all who knew him, but his legacy of kindness and courage will endure.
Corey’s journey began as the son of Karen Bird and the late Carl L. Comperatore. He grew up in the Natrona Heights area and graduated from Freeport High School in 1992. His commitment to service became evident early in his life. Corey proudly served his nation for ten years in the US Army Reserves, demonstrating his dedication to duty and country. This foundational experience shaped his disciplined and responsible approach to life and work.
Professionally, Corey excelled as a project and tooling engineer at JSP. He brought the same dedication and precision he honed in the military to his engineering career, earning respect for his expertise and work ethic. Colleagues remember him not only for his professional capabilities but also for his willingness to assist and his positive attitude.
Beyond his professional life, Corey Comperatore was deeply committed to his community. A devout member of the Cabot Church, his faith was a guiding principle in his life. His commitment to service extended to the Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department, where he was a lifelong member and proudly served as Chief in the early 2000s. His leadership at the fire department showcased his bravery and his commitment to protecting and serving the local community. This role was not just a duty but a true calling for Corey, reflecting his selfless nature.
However, of all his roles, Corey was most devoted to his family. He was, in the truest sense, a family man and an exemplary “girl dad.” His marriage to Helen (Scott) Comperatore was a partnership built on deep love and mutual respect. Together, they raised two daughters, Allyson and Kaylee Comperatore, who were the center of his world. He instilled in his daughters the values of compassion, integrity, and resilience, which will undoubtedly guide them throughout their lives. He is also survived by his mother, Karen (Denny) Bird, his sisters, Kelly (Doug) Meeder and Dawn Comperatore Shaffer, his stepbrother, Steven (Megan) Warheit, his beloved Dobermans, Ivan and Negan, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces. Each family member felt the warmth of his love and the strength of his support.
Corey Comperatore’s life was a testament to his unwavering faith. He lived as a man of God, with a deep and personal relationship with Jesus. His faith was not just a Sunday practice but an integral part of his daily life, influencing his actions and decisions. He inspired those around him with his faith-driven life, encouraging them to seek purpose and live with grace. His ability to uplift others was a remarkable gift, and he used it generously.
His courage was a defining characteristic, not displayed through grand gestures but through quiet strength and resilience. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Corey’s life and pay their respects on Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Laube Hall, located at 115 Community Park Road, Freeport, PA 16229. These hours of visitation will provide an opportunity for the community to come together, share memories, and support the Comperatore family during this difficult time.
A private funeral service, officiated by Pastor Jonathan Fehl, will be held to honor Corey’s faith journey and the boundless love he shared. Pastor Fehl will provide comfort and celebrate Corey’s life in a service that reflects his spiritual devotion and the profound impact he had on those around him.
