Once upon a time, big box stores were a Weber grill haven. As someone familiar with the retail landscape, I’ve witnessed firsthand the shifting dynamics. While brands like Weber once dominated floor space at retailers like Lowes and Home Depot, the scene is changing. Budget-friendly competitors are claiming more real estate, and brands like Napoleon are stepping up to challenge Weber in the mid-to-high-end market. Despite these market shifts, my personal preference still leans towards Weber. Having cooked on a high-end Napoleon grill, I recognize their quality and performance. It was a fantastic grill, though mastering any new grill takes time. Napoleon undoubtedly offers impressive models. However, for everyday grilling needs and moderate sizes, Weber’s Genesis series remains a strong contender. Even with acknowledged design quirks, the updated Genesis models have grown on me – the Ace Hardware exclusive indigo version is particularly appealing. Yet, no matter the allure of a new Genesis, parting with my reliable 1998 Weber Summit is simply out of the question. It speaks volumes about the lasting quality and personal connection many Weber owners have with their grills.
