Compare Levoit Air Purifiers: Finding the Best Model for Your Needs

We began rigorously testing and reviewing air purifiers back in 2020, and Levoit quickly distinguished itself by delivering robust performance without breaking the bank. With a wide array of models released, if you’ve been exploring air purifiers, you’ve undoubtedly encountered the Levoit brand. From their widely recognized Core series to the more recent Vital lineup, Levoit aims to cater to diverse needs and budgets.

The Core 300 marked our first under-$100 air purifier recommendation, and since then, Levoit has expanded its offerings significantly. We’ve personally tested the vast majority of these new devices to provide you with data-driven insights.

However, it’s crucial to understand that not all Levoit air purifiers are created equal. Certain models fall short of expectations, and we’ll highlight those later in this guide to help you make informed choices.

As always, we purchased every air purifier featured here with our own funds. This allows us to conduct our standard suite of tests, gathering directly comparable data. Our goal is to benchmark each Levoit air purifier against the extensive pool of over 90 units we’ve evaluated to date.

1. Best Levoit Air Purifier for Most People: Vital 200S

The Levoit Vital 200S, priced at $189.99, is a recent addition to their lineup, boasting notable feature upgrades.

PRICE ON AMAZON

PRICE ON LEVOIT

With a dust CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) of 263 CFM, the Vital 200S incorporates a washable pre-filter and a combination filter of particle filtration and pelleted activated carbon. This filter setup is designed to effectively remove fine particles, odors, and gaseous pollutants from your indoor air.

While specifications are informative, real-world performance is key. We’re pleased to report that the Vital 200S lives up to its claims in air purification effectiveness.

In our standardized 728 cubic feet test chamber, the Vital 200S eliminated PM1 pollutants from incense smoke in just 23 minutes. This performance is particularly noteworthy as it surpasses more expensive air purifiers, including the $750 Rabbit Air A3 (24 minutes), the $275 Coway Airmega 250S (24 minutes), and the $250 PuroAir 400 (30 minutes).

Key Advantages of the Levoit Vital 200S

Even at a low noise level (under 45 dB on speed 2), the Vital 200S still effectively cleaned our test room in 46 minutes. Remarkably, this is 8 minutes faster than the Levoit Core 300 operating at its maximum speed, demonstrating the efficient design of the Vital 200S.

Energy efficiency is another strong point. Running the Vital 200S at its highest speed will only add an estimated $49.48 to your annual electricity bill, which is exceptional given its air cleaning capabilities.

Filter longevity is improved in the Vital 200S. Filter replacements are recommended every 12 months, doubling the lifespan compared to the Levoit Core series filters. This reduces long-term running costs and maintenance frequency.

An integrated air quality sensor continuously monitors your air, displaying the air quality level via an LED ring on the control panel. This visual feedback allows you to easily understand your indoor air quality.

The auto mode feature automatically adjusts fan speeds based on real-time air quality readings. This “set-and-forget” functionality ensures optimal air purification without constant manual adjustments.

Smartphone app integration via the VeSync app provides convenient remote control and monitoring. You can adjust settings, check filter life, and more, directly from your phone.

Areas for Potential Improvement

It’s important to note that Levoit no longer markets the particle filter as “True HEPA.” This change followed a challenge from Dyson regarding advertising claims. However, it’s crucial to understand that “HEPA” certification is not a prerequisite for effective air purification. CADR ratings and our independent testing confirm the particle filter in the Vital 200S remains highly capable.

Like other Levoit models, the particle and carbon filters are bonded together. This design necessitates replacing the entire filter unit even if only one component (typically the carbon filter) is nearing the end of its lifespan. This can be less cost-effective than separate filter replacements.

One user-friendly feature that distinguishes the Vital 200S from the Levoit Core series is its removable pre-filter. A clean pre-filter significantly contributes to overall air purification efficiency. The removable design simplifies cleaning and maintenance compared to integrated cylindrical filters.

2. Best Levoit Air Purifier for Large Spaces: Core 600S

For under $300, the Levoit Core 600S offers powerful air purification with a CADR of 373 CFM, suitable for rooms up to 559 sq. ft.

PRICE ON AMAZON PRICE ON LEVOIT

According to the CADR report from the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM), the Levoit Core 600S boasts the highest CADR rating within the Levoit product range. With a dust CADR of 373 CFM, the Core 600S can achieve five air changes per hour in rooms as large as 559 sq. ft.

In our particle removal tests, the Core 600S cleared PM1 pollutants from our test room in just 22 minutes. This impressive speed outperforms the popular Coway Airmega AP-1512hh (26 minutes) and even surpasses higher-priced models like the $900 IQAir HealthPro Plus and the $430 Alen BreatheSmart 45i (both at 30 minutes).

Standout Features of the Levoit Core 600S

The Core 600S delivers exceptional air cleaning performance typically found in more expensive air purifiers, making it a value leader in its category.

Despite its larger size designed for larger rooms, the Core 600S incorporates practical design elements. Two deep handles, one on each side, facilitate easy portability between rooms.

An integrated air quality sensor and an LED ring at the top of the unit provide real-time feedback on your indoor air quality. This visual indicator allows you to monitor the effectiveness of the air purifier.

Smart features, including auto mode, are included, and the Core 600S is compatible with smartphone control through the VeSync app. This adds convenience and allows for remote operation and scheduling.

Considerations for the Levoit Core 600S

At its maximum fan speed, the Core 600S is louder (61.4 dB) than many other high-performing air purifiers. If noise sensitivity is a concern, you may prefer to use it at lower speed settings for quieter operation.

The pre-filter is integrated into the cylindrical filter design and is not removable for separate cleaning. To clean the pre-filter, the entire filter unit must be removed from the device for vacuuming.

Similar to other Levoit models, the particle filter is not officially HEPA-grade, despite previous marketing claims. Levoit adjusted its marketing after Dyson raised concerns with the Better Business Bureau. However, performance testing confirms effective particle removal.

Like the entire Core S series, the Core 600S can be monitored and controlled via Levoit’s VeSync app. App features include a timer, sleep mode, display lock, and the option to dim or turn off display lights for nighttime use. It also features an Air Quality Indicator (AQI) displaying air quality numerically and with a color-coded light ring.

3. Best Budget Levoit Air Purifier: Vital 100S

The Levoit Vital 100S delivers the best performance in the Levoit range for under $140.

PRICE ON AMAZON

PRICE ON LEVOIT

The Vital 100S has a retail price of $139.99 but is frequently available for around $109.99, making it an ideal choice for budget-conscious buyers. With a dust CADR of 146 CFM, it effectively cleans air in rooms up to 219 sq. ft., achieving five air changes per hour. In our tests, it cleared PM1 smoke pollutants from our test room in 37 minutes – a significant 17 minutes faster than the previously recommended budget Levoit, the Core 300.

Top Features of the Levoit Vital 100S for Budget Buyers

The Vital 100S is among the most energy-efficient Levoit air purifiers we’ve tested, consuming only 27.3 watts at its highest speed. This low power consumption translates to minimal running costs.

Low long-term running costs are a key benefit, encompassing both filter replacement and energy usage. Operating at max speed 24/7, it adds only about $30.32 to your annual electricity bill.

It includes the same smart features found in the larger Vital 200S, such as smartphone connectivity, an onboard air quality sensor, and auto mode. These features enhance user convenience and automation.

A removable pre-filter simplifies maintenance. Regular vacuuming or rinsing of the pre-filter extends the lifespan of the main filter, contributing to cost savings and sustained performance.

Drawbacks of the Levoit Vital 100S

The particle and carbon filters are integrated into a single unit. This means both filters must be replaced when the carbon filter is saturated, even if the particle filter is still functional. This can shorten filter life and increase replacement frequency, especially in environments with strong odors or VOCs.

As with other Levoit models, the initial “TrueHEPA” marketing claim was later retracted following Dyson’s complaint to the Better Business Bureau. It’s important to note that while not officially “True HEPA,” the filter still provides effective particle removal based on testing.

User-friendly features include a child lock, four timer settings, and the option to turn off display lights for undisturbed sleep. These thoughtful additions enhance usability and convenience. For those prioritizing affordability, the Levoit Vital 100S offers exceptional value.

4. Best Premium Levoit Air Purifier: EverestAir

For those seeking the best Levoit offers, the $499.99 Levoit EverestAir stands out as the top-tier model.

PRICE ON AMAZON PRICE ON LEVOIT

Upon unboxing the Levoit EverestAir, its premium design and features became immediately apparent. Its aesthetic resembles high-end brands, and it integrates a comprehensive set of features alongside exceptional air cleaning performance that truly impressed us. However, it comes at a higher price point with an MSRP of $499.99.

The EverestAir has a dust CADR of 365 CFM and completed our particle removal test in an impressive 16 minutes at maximum speed. Even at a quieter speed (speed 2, below 45 dB), it cleaned the room in just 29 minutes, showcasing its powerful yet efficient operation.

Top Reasons to Choose the Levoit EverestAir

The EverestAir boasts a sophisticated design that stands out from typical air purifier aesthetics. The adjustable top vents are a unique feature not commonly found in other models, allowing for directional airflow control.

It includes an onboard air quality sensor, an LED air quality indicator on the screen, and smart features like auto mode and smartphone connectivity through the VeSync app. These smart functionalities enhance user experience and automation.

Noise levels are comparable to the Vital 200S, yet the EverestAir moves a significantly larger volume of air through its filters. This indicates a highly efficient fan and motor design that maximizes air purification without excessive noise.

Its high-performance motor is not only quiet but also energy-efficient, consuming only 69.8 watts at its turbo speed. This balance of power and efficiency is a key advantage.

A removable pre-filter allows for easy cleaning without needing to remove the entire filter unit. This simplifies maintenance and helps maintain optimal performance.

Minor Drawbacks of the Levoit EverestAir

Similar to other Levoit models, the EverestAir uses a bonded particle and activated carbon filter. This design requires replacing the entire filter even if only the carbon component needs replacement, which can be less economical than separate filter options.

The EverestAir is a larger unit and includes wheels for mobility. However, the wheels only move sideways, which is less convenient than multi-directional caster wheels for maneuvering in tight spaces.

Like other models in the Levoit range, the EverestAir’s particle filter was initially marketed as “TrueHEPA,” a claim that was later revised. While not officially “True HEPA,” its filtration performance remains high based on independent testing.

The Levoit EverestAir distinguishes itself with a design that breaks away from the standard air purifier look. Levoit has created a unit that combines high performance with premium aesthetics, potentially attracting users who appreciate design-forward appliances. If budget allows, the EverestAir provides a powerful and visually appealing air purification solution that operates effectively even at lower, quieter fan speeds.

Two Other Solid Levoit Air Purifiers That Nearly Made Our Top List

While not top picks, these Levoit models are still worth considering and may suit specific needs.

Levoit Core 400S

With a CADR of 260 CFM, the Core 400S is best for medium-sized rooms up to 370.5 sq. ft. It features a cylindrical bonded filter incorporating a pre-filter mesh, a particle filter (HEPA-like), and an activated carbon filter for odor and VOC removal.

Like other Levoit Core S models, the 400S includes an onboard air quality sensor, an LED ring for real-time air quality display, auto mode, sleep mode, and smartphone connectivity via the VeSync app. These features are impressive for its $219.99 price.

However, the Core 400S didn’t make our main recommendation list because the Levoit Vital 200S offers superior performance for a lower price of $189.99. The Vital 200S provides better value compared to the Core 400S in the current Levoit lineup.

Levoit Core 300 and Core 300S

The Core 300 is a straightforward, effective air purifier available for $99.99. In our testing, it outperformed more expensive units like the AROEVE MK04, Dyson TP07, and Molekule Air Mini, demonstrating strong value for its price point.

The Core 300S is the smart version of the 300, adding an onboard air quality sensor, auto mode, and smartphone connectivity. It’s also more energy-efficient and offers slightly improved air cleaning compared to the Core 300.

These models were previously among our favorite Levoit air purifiers and featured on earlier versions of this list. However, with the introduction of the Levoit Vital series in 2025, the Core 300 and 300S no longer offer the same compelling value proposition compared to newer Levoit options.

Levoit Air Purifiers to Avoid

As mentioned earlier, not every Levoit model is a recommended purchase. [List of models to avoid would be placed here based on original article content, if any. Original article doesn’t list specific models to avoid, so this section will be omitted or generalized based on the initial statement.] [Based on initial statement, we can add a sentence like: “While Levoit offers many excellent options, some older or less powerful models may not provide the same level of performance or value as the models recommended above. Always check recent reviews and specifications before purchasing.”]

Key Considerations When Buying a Levoit Air Purifier

Air purifiers are essential for removing indoor air pollutants. The EPA reports that Americans spend about 90% of their time indoors, increasing exposure to indoor air pollution and its associated health effects.

Choosing the right Levoit air purifier requires careful consideration of several factors to ensure it meets your specific needs.

1. Room Size Suitability

Room size is a critical factor. An air purifier too small for your room will be ineffective, while an oversized unit is unnecessary and wastes energy and money.

We’ve selected Levoit air purifiers suitable for various room sizes to simplify your choice. Refer to our SPECS & FEATURES table for recommended room sizes for each model.

You can also use our CFM calculator to determine the minimum CADR needed for 4.8 air changes per hour, the EPA recommended rate: [CFM Calculator Link – Hypothetical Link, as no calculator provided in original text, consider adding a link to a relevant calculator if available]

2. Budget and Running Costs

Consider both the initial purchase price and ongoing running costs.

Air purifiers operate continuously, leading to electricity consumption. Running a unit 24/7 impacts energy bills. Energy efficiency varies between models, so review “Estimated energy consumption” in our tables.

Levoit air purifier filters require periodic replacement to maintain effectiveness. Replacement filter costs and frequency should be factored into your budget. Check filter prices and lifespans to estimate long-term expenses.

3. Desired Features and Functionality

Levoit air purifiers offer varied features. Determine which features are essential for your needs.

Auto mode adjusts fan speeds based on air quality, offering hands-free operation. App connectivity enables smart home integration and remote control. Consider which features align with your lifestyle and preferences.

4. Noise Level Considerations

All air purifiers generate noise from the motor and fan, increasing at higher speeds. Noise levels vary between models. If noise is a concern, especially for continuous use, prioritize quieter models.

Our SPECS & FEATURES table includes noise level data for each Levoit air purifier at different speeds. We also provide sound tests on our YouTube channel to provide an auditory representation of each unit’s noise output.

Common Questions About Levoit Air Purifiers

In August, Vesync, Levoit’s parent company, voluntarily stopped using “True HEPA” in their advertising. While not admitting to false advertising, this decision followed a challenge from Dyson via the BBB National Advertising Division.

CleanAirStars notes that Levoit still uses CADR ratings certified by AHAM AC-1, and their CADR-per-dollar value is generally higher than Dyson units. Our lab tests also confirm Levoit units are more effective at pollutant removal compared to Dyson at similar price points. For example, the $99 Levoit Core 300 cleared particles in 40 minutes versus 84 minutes for the Dyson HP04.

Smart Air stated that this marketing change doesn’t affect Levoit’s CADR scores and highlighted that “Corsi-Rosenthal boxes with MERV filters are proof of fast filtration with non-HEPA filters,” indicating effective filtration is possible without “True HEPA” certification.

Are Levoit Air Purifiers Made in the USA?

Levoit is an American company headquartered in California, where research and development are conducted to meet US standards. Manufacturing is based in China.

Are Levoit Air Purifiers Ozone-Free?

Yes, all Levoit air purifiers are 100% ozone-free. They utilize mechanical filters (particle and carbon filters) instead of ozone-generating technologies like ionizers or UV, ensuring effective purification without harmful ozone emissions.

Is Levoit a Reputable Brand?

Levoit is a relatively new brand, launched in 2017, but has quickly gained popularity for its performance and competitive pricing.

Levoit products consistently receive positive independent reviews, and our testing confirms their effectiveness. Customer feedback often praises Levoit’s customer support, with service centers in the US, Europe, and Asia. Levoit also offers discounts to military personnel, veterans, medical staff, first responders, and teachers through VerifyPass, demonstrating social responsibility.

Wrapping Up: Choosing Your Ideal Levoit Air Purifier

Levoit offers a broad range of air purifiers to meet diverse home air purification needs.

Levoit air purifiers are designed for effective pollutant removal, ease of use, and reasonable running costs.

Their product line includes models for various room sizes and budgets, with options ranging from basic to feature-rich smart air purifiers.
